FAQ

  • What is the process for joining the team?

Players interested in joining a team are encouraged to reach out to the head coach via the email provided on the team page. Opportunities may be available throughout the year, and contacting the coach early ensures you can explore all options. Depending on roster needs, coaches can often offer different tryout options, such as personal tryouts, attending group practices, or participating in group tryouts, which are typically held at the end of the season in July or December.

During tryouts, players will be evaluated based on their skills, effort, and how they fit with the team. Once evaluations are complete, families will be notified if their player has been selected. Please check the team page regularly for updates on open positions and tryout opportunities.

  • What is the commitment level?

Playing on a travel softball team requires a significant commitment from both players and their families. Players are expected to attend all practices and tournaments. In the older age groups, we also expect our athletes to work on their skills outside of team practices. Families should be prepared for mostly local weekend travel (and possibly some out-of-state travel depending on team schedule) during the tournament season and support their player’s year-round development.

  • What are the costs associated with playing?

We are a non-profit organization. Costs will vary by team and season. Fees typically cover costs such as tournament entry fees, uniforms, team equipment and training facilities.

  • What age groups does the organization support?

We currently support age groups from 8U through 14U.

  • How long is the season?

Our season typically runs from August thru July. Seasons vary by age in order to work around middle school softball commitments, and some teams have off-season training taking place in the winter months.

  • How often does the team practice?

The practice schedule varies depending on the team and time of year. During the season, teams generally practice 2-3 times a week.

  • What is expected of parents?

We ask that parents be supportive, not only of their child but of the entire team. Parents are encouraged to help foster a positive, team-focused atmosphere.

It is important to let the coaches take the lead in developing your child's skills, both in practice and during games. While cheering and encouragement are always welcome, we ask that parents refrain from coaching or instructing their child from the stands. This helps avoid confusion and allows the coaches to manage the game strategy. Yelling at or criticizing players, including your own child, during games is strongly discouraged, as it can impact performance and team morale.

Additionally, depending on the team, parents may be asked to assist with fundraising efforts or help with team logistics during games and practices. Your support is crucial in creating a positive environment for all players to thrive.

  • What tournaments does the team participate in?

We participate in a variety of local and regional tournaments, typically sanctioned by organizations like PGF, USSSA, NSA, USFA, Play local, etc. The specific tournaments vary each season based on team goals and competition level.
